Because it works!

Finally science is beginning to explain what happens in the brain as we experience hypnosis.

We're like the world just after the Wright brothers proved that human flight was possible... but before people saw the pictures that convinced them it was real.

So picture this - hypnosis is already helping thousands of people all around the world deal with a range of problems and you can see the difference in the brain before and during hypnosis.

At the very least, we can use it for stress management and even here it is a powerful tool for relaxation and changing your mind about things that previously bothered you.

You can use it for changing bad habits, like nail-biting, bedwetting, over-eating, even stop smoking with it. I've helped myself with an embarrassing habit. (The less said the better. Blush. Blush.)

You can use it for pain-related issues, because it allows the body to block out pain, in a fascinating way. Scans show that those in hypnosis actually perceive what is coming from the areas but there is no activity in the brain areas that "feel" the pain. There are women, even in Singapore, who go through pain-free childbirth.

You can use it to better your sports (yes, even Tiger Woods has used it) and help with academic performance.

In my National Guild of Hypnotists' certification class, I saw a fortysomething classmate have her life-time fear of cockroaches erased. Since then, I've used that technique to help people who were afraid of flying, afraid of insects, of six-legged creatures, of slimy things, and even afraid of enclosed spaces.

Being a former journalist, I kept checking back with "the cockroach lady" to be sure that the solution is long-term. She's fine!
